Today is Here

If stress is not channeled correctly, it quickly turns into discontent. In a state of discontent is exactly where the enemy wants to keep us, for it is there an angry attitude flourishes. An angry attitude can quickly progress into anxiety, fear, and depression, which keeps the viscous cycle of discontent hovering close by, ever circling around.

Stress sneaks up on us in small ways from not listening to our physical bodies asking for help by resting to accumulating enormous debt to go to school, etc. Then, we work ourselves to death in the name of bigger and better. Yet, we only have today. It is the here and now. Why live it stressed when you are not promised tomorrow. Tomorrow is in the future. Stop trying to live in the what if’s, focusing on where you intend to be in the future. Take care of where you are in the here and now, today. Make the most of it. Do whatever it takes for you to relieve your stress level.

You will notice that you will get through each day more and more contentedly as you consciously choose to think about today instead of “over there.” Holy meets us where we are day after day. Today, focus on being content with Holy and watch as your stress drifts away.

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty, hunger, abundance, and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13
