God Stands with Us

There is no greater peace that washes over our soul than to know that God stands with us, especially in our hours of greatest need. It feels like the ebb and flow of ocean currents. Just when we think we will crash into the rocks, God intervenes with “Be still and know that I am here”.

1 Samuel 17 depicts the young boy, David, facing the battle with the giant Goliath. Prior to the battle he was ridiculed by an older brother for showing up on the battlefield (with provisions sent by their father), and declined the armor of King Saul because it was too heavy. vs 36, 37 David said to Saul, “Your servant has killed both lion and bear (to save one of his father’s sheep), this Philistine will be like one of them because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who delivered me from the paws of the lion and bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine (Goliath the Giant).” Trust and Faith in action in every day life!

David’s faith stood strong because he was so close to God in his heart. He knew God’s voice. While others quivered in fear, David saved a nation with a sling shot and a stone from the nearby river. The stone landed where it needed to for victory. God saw to it because of David’s heart posture of faith was strong. How is your heart posture of trust and faith in God?

Do you feel victorious when you face giants in your life? If not, perhaps ask God to stand with you. Make time for God every day so you will, also, know His voice.
