Years ago, when God asked me to share His Word and my faith on social media, write books, and through songs, I balked. My little world was neatly compartmentalized, comfortable, and quiet. Yet, I agreed because I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. Holy words kept speaking that it was for the new wineskin. I did not fully understand what those 2 words meant until I read Nate Johnson’s words.
Jesus’ life mission was to seek and to save the lost, the poor, all people, and to bring something new to the table with the wine. The Pharisee’s adhered to the old wine of rigid, religious rituals instead of embracing the grace, mercy, and forgiveness of Jesus. Many times in this world the ministries of the old wine either look like entertainment, millionaire evangelism, or staid rituals never teaching how to deeply encounter the power of the Holy Spirit for themselves. It is seen as too woo-woo, new age, or uncomfortable.
Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved. Matthew 9:17
The new wineskin holds the Gospel of Salvation of Jesus for all and the Holy Spirit is to be embraced fully on a daily basis. Ask Jesus to help you. No building needed, but the communities of faith can lead you discover God’s work in others lives by way of His Holy Spirit within. It is time to embrace the new wineskin fully.
