Since the beginning of creation there have been wars, family blame, mistakes, greed, and plenty of sins, along with religious hypocrites. Even David committed adultery and had Bathsheba’s husband killed in battle so he could have her for himself. The little shepherd boy who loved God fully and won a war with a sling shot and rock gave into his sin as a man.
Yet, when he fully accepted the sin that he committed, David repented, asked God for forgiveness, and changed to become the man God created him to be. He wrote Psalm 51 as an account of his repentance of sin, cleansing forgiveness, promise to change, and restoration. Growth happens when we acknowledge that we are sinners, change, and hope in the God who saves.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love… Psalm 51:1
No one in the bible was perfectly without sin except for Jesus, who was fully human and fully God. Even in the wilderness of temptation, Jesus did not give in to Satan’s taunting and evil plots. Yet, humanity chose to see Jesus as just a man to crucify when He was not what they wanted rather than the God of Hope and saving grace.
Humanity has not changed much to have grown so smart over the years. There is no hope in sin, pleasure seeking, money hungry careers, or dysfunctional families. If you are struggling in your life read and pray Psalm 51. Choose Hope in something real and not of this world.
Choose to grow in Spirit with the help of Holy Spirit. When hope takes root your faith will grow deeper.
