Discernment: the spiritual capacity to accurately (see beyond what’s at hand) distinguish between right and wrong, good and evil, truth and lies, deception, or hidden agendas, manipulation, true intentions.
The skill of spiritual discernment is learned by practice much like we learn to feed ourselves, crawl then walk, from infancy, and grow into relationships, learning math and skills later in life. It is a process. We develop spiritual maturity by pausing, observing, preparing before speaking, listening, and seeing truth.
But solid food is for the (spiritually) mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:14
Our solid food is God, Jesus’ life and sacrifice, daily relationship through Holy Spirit within, Holy Word, a deep prayer life, and discernment of God’s will not our own.
How is your discernment? God wants us to go deeper with Him. Ask Holy to show you how then practice it.
