A Good Crop of Faith

It is these times in life that the foundation of our faith either pulls us through or drags us under. A shallow faith is not deep rooted enough to close the doors on anger, bitterness, envy, or destroying thoughts. To say you believe in faith is not sustaining. Faith is an action word that entreats the mind , body, and soul to dig deeper for knowledge, purpose, serving, and meaning so that it grows, strengthens, and blossoms in time. It is the kind of faith that sustains.

If not much effort is put into growing a deeper faith, the ways of the world will win the day like a sprout that withers and dies in the summer sun. However, a solid, committed faith in tough times will override negative actions and words to bring about clarity, order, and stability. It has the ability to awaken within us hope, possibilities, and patient endurance until better days come even though we may not understand the whole of the bigger picture. But God knows, and to depend fully upon that is a deep faith.

How is your faith today? Is it stagnant, mere words, or just some idea that sprouted to life once? Or, is it strong and continuing to grow?

The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. Luke 8:14, 15
