Underneath the Mask

All disruptive behaviors mask something going on inside of us we don’t want to talk about, own up to, face in truth, or perhaps is so buried deep within there is no understanding of it. If we set aside the emotions that flare, the hurt feelings, the rebellious reactions, and choose to search for the cause our eyes are opened to a bigger picture, a greater need, a larger healing needing to occur. It’s easier to shout and bluster about, threaten, choose to not listen and walk away. It is hard work to see all things and people thru Holy eyes. As well, it is time consuming and often unpleasant to search for meaning. It’s rather easier to give up and get on with life, but as emotions are bottled up and behaviors are the cover up. This resonates true whether it’s at work, school, in your family, within yourself, in the neighborhood, our country, in the world, in relationships, and in addiction. The focus seems to always be on the bad, the negative, the imperfection, the injustice, and very rarely on real motives and meaning.

Let’s change that and start seeking what’s really going on underneath the masks. The mask of defiance, disobedience, hate, anger, lies, and selfishness cloaked in bad behavior in the name of justice, protection, or smiles is never the answer to life’s problems. Actions always speak louder than words. Until we Stop to seek the real cause, we get no where and the same circle of life is perpetuated; generation after generation. When needs are met, people are heard, work is done on healing hearts, truths are uncovered, and masks of bad behavior are no longer needed. It takes time. It takes patience. It takes forgiveness. It takes effort. All worth it in the end. Jesus took the time to teach and made the effort to instill wisdom. He, still to this very day, offers forgiveness and patiently waits for All people to reconcile back to the Father.

“Be kind to one another and tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
