Retraining

Those of us who are organized, plan ahead, engage preventative measures, and research something to the last degree have a hard time surrendering and letting go in order to humbly stand aside in acceptance of that which we have worked diligently to avoid. The taste of defeat lingers. Yet, there is no peace in any of that.

Life is unpredictable. The gut wrenching pain of holding a breath as if it would hold everything perfectly in place is tiresome, unhealthy, and stagnating. As well, the mind is relentless. When things go wrong our own minds are the first to judge. It is important to remember that this way of life is not what and how Christ called us to live.

We are entreated to train ourselves in the way of Christ. To surrender, daily, our whole life not just parts of it. It takes work, effort, determination, but the reward is a soul centered peace of knowing it was in His hands from the beginning. That is the kind of peace I want. Do you?

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of humans. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8
