Open Your Heart

What comes to mind when you read those words, open heart? Vulnerability, lack of control, removing shields, peace, relaxing the reins, God?

Openheartedness is transparent. It is free from cultural constraints, bias, and personal agendas. It is seeing the situation, person, group, or animal through clean, clear lenses, making no assumptions or opinions. There is a purity of honesty to an open heart. An open hearted attitude lets more Holy light in allowing wisdom, truth, the right thing to do, and hard decisions easier.

Your open heart is a place of power, not weakness. It promotes clarity. It is freeing yourself up to learn something beyond this world. It beckons us to treat others with care, dignity, and kindness. God draws close to the open hearted. Relationship is deepened.

An open heart speaks inclusion, listening, striving to understand, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, lends strength to yourself and others. It is a feeling of truth, honesty, and genuine care in love. Intentions are laid bare. May we take the attitude of our hearts seriously making changes or opening it wider to envelope the whole message of holiness while shutting out enemy traps of ego, anger, pride, selfishness, or dishonesty.

Your open heart is your gateway to God. It becomes your testimony Of God for others to feel Holy presence. Guard it well and remove whatever worldliness clogs up the gate.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51
