Since Creation, Testimonies, Jesus’ baptism when the holy spirit descended upon Him like a Dove, to Healing, Miracles, and Changed Lives to Raising the dead, the magnificent power of God continues to awe and inspire to this very day. Not only are there outward signs like these mentioned as well as the picture of the active volcano, but also the inward one that displays the power of the Holy Spirit within each of us. Just ask an addict, cancer patient, new believer, who have felt that power descend within their soul and transform them into healed miracles. This is the Holy Ghost power. Story after story of lives being changed still happens today. For believers it is alive and at work. For many it lays dormant and unused waiting for an invitation to come alive. God gives us a choice. It’s up to you.
While you are celebrating the dead, scary goblins, and spooky houses on this day of Halloween by going to trick or treat parties, neighborhood doors, or trunk/treat events, remember that All Hallows Eve has not always been meant for scary or evil purposes. It is thought to have been the evening of or otherwise known as All Saints Day in which Christians celebrated those saints and martyrs, who had gone on to their death. Yes, it was a celebration of the dead, but done so by remembering those who had done good in their lives for God, some even dying as a result of their belief and actions. The point in time in which the Christian aspect of this celebration was removed, forgotten, ignored, is unclear. It is believed the Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires to ward off ghosts, incorporated into the All Hallows Eve celebration. Over time the Christian element was removed and became more about scary ghosts, costumes, candy, and fun. What this tells us is this is just another example of the way the enemy has infiltrated this world in such a large way over time to make it all about him/self. Many countries do not even celebrate Halloween as it is solely seen as yet another opportunity to commercialize a target audience (children). Satan is cunning. The enemy will go after the children every time. Why not exchange evil spirits for the Holy Spirit beginning today?
Step on into your Holy Ghost moment and be transformed by the Power in Jesus name and leave the scary stuff to the enemy. “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope, through the Power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13 (KJV)
