Having spent time in a Nazi prison camp during the Holocaust, Corrie Ten Boom is one to listen to on how Forgiveness can set you free. As she prayed for her captures, even as she watched her sister die, forgiveness was being planted in her heart. As she ministered to others in Jesus name knowing if she was heard by her captures she would die immediately, forgiveness was planted in her heart. As she took care of the sick and dying providing healing either on this side of heaven or praying them through crossing over into heaven, forgiveness was planted in her heart. Even during her worst nightmare in captivity she remained true to her higher Divine calling.
Due to a clerical error, Corrie Ten Boom was freed from Nazi prison in 1944. When she was set free she always maintained that she had to then learn to forgive the very ones she protected others from in order not to live in the prison of her mind, thoughts, and bad memories. It’s the same for all of us. Maybe we haven’t experienced a Nazi prison camp, but many have experienced pain, hurt, abuse, betrayal from their past that keeps them locked into unhealthy patterns and discontented with life. The beauty of what we can learn from this quote from Corrie Ten Boom is that Forgiveness of those who trespass against us can in fact set us free from the prison we set up in our lives from bad experiences. Every act of kindness she performed while in that prison camp set her up to realize that she needed to forgive others so she herself could be set free. Claim that Freedom for yourself today.
“Be kind and tender-hearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ, God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
