In our personal struggles that we wrestle with in life, God is in the mix of it. Holy is there even when we do not realize it, for our purpose in this life is saturated with the ebb and flow of our Creator. Holy timing is always perfect.
It is us who are impatient pining for life to be perfect in our own timing. We hold ourselves at a distance, unsure of what to do, ask, or say, yet we do not seek Jesus for clarity. We hold out for God’s revealed promises but miss the purpose of the work already in progress.
Is it a lack of faith to not be content where we are? Is it a trust issue? Have we forgotten how to truly believe in God’s promises, Jesus’ saving grace, and Holy Spirit within?
Jacob wrestled with God for a blessing (Genesis 32). David wrestled with God over feelings of abandonment (Psalm 44). Jesus wrestled with God asking Him to take the cup of death away (Matthew 26).
Wrestling is relational with Holy. In our passion for justice, self preservation, understanding, being heard, or perhaps in just simply trying to find God, we pray and lament and cry and ask, leading us not necessarily to direct answers, but rather to deeper meanings, forgotten promises, and then we believe greater, again.
It is in the process of wrestling that answers sneak in, and we are changed. What are you wrestling with in life? Seek Jesus. He’s been there.
