Take time to evaluate how you react to people in situations that disappoint you, are hurtful, cause you pain, or betray you. Some say intelligent people ignore because they see themselves as never wrong. Some say weak people get revenge because it takes less effort and is the easiest to do. Some say only the strong can put aside their humanness and forgive even the worse atrocities. So, who are you when life gets brutal?
It takes a great strength of character to see beyond one’s self in order to offer forgiveness, even to yourself, and especially to others. Many times, it takes months or years of healing work for humans to forgive one another. Sometimes, it can be spontaneous like Jesus forgave Judas, all who were involved in His trial, torture, cruelty, and even me.
If you are struggling with forgiveness today prayerfully ask for guidance, truth, and the patient perseverance and endurance of Jesus to show you how to get there. You will find peace lives on the road paved with forgiveness and healthy boundaries.
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. Luke 23:34
