When I Rise

I am struck by the genuine simplicity of this photo. However, the impact of the words went straight to my soul with heartfelt longing.

I do start my days with Jesus, but all too often, I feel pressed for time as soon as my feet hit the floor. I make time for Him, always, but my mind sometimes wanders many directions.

On those too many mornings filled with busyness, rushing, running late, and scattered thoughts, it takes incredible discipline to stop focusing on the surrounding chaos and just be still in the midst of it all. Yet, in doing so, it is only then that I can press in closer to God, and Holy reveals to me what I need for the rest of the day.

A revealing of His Holy presence comes in the most unique ways. With a thankful praise for raindrops, cool breezes, or birds singing, I am reminded of the need for genuine simplicity. It leads to calmness, focused attention, and becoming attuned to Holiness everywhere. What a needed blessing.

Yes, in the morning when I rise, give me Jesus, first and foremost.  Give it a try. Every morning! Don’t  give up.

Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you, I lift up my soul. Psalm 143:8
