Stop the Frenzy

How do we not rush in this day and age in which we live? Rushing around seems to have some sort of fake importance tied to it like it’s necessary for living. Everyone is in a rush to get somewhere, then rush to get out of there, then rush to get home. This perpetual moving in a fast way leads to dangerous driving, stressed out people, tired kids, and angry homes. It is too much. This lifestyle does not encourage patience, waiting, making well thought out decisions, nor does it give time for calmly seeking holiness. We are all too tired. It’s not supposed to be that way.

Some days, we all feel like a frenzied school of sharks. Unfortunately, this seems to take on a life of its own when we are in a season of waiting to hear from God. So our patience wears thin, and we tend to allow ourselves to get caught up in the frenzied rush, and before we know it, we are being pulled out to sea in a storm having lost sight of our faith, the plan, prayer, and the Word. During the storm is not the time to forget about the provisions of God.

Rushing through life allows us to forget that God always knows the future and that His answers come at the right time.  In the meantime, He gives us time to catch up to His understanding of situations. During that time, we must stop the rushing and place our importance on building our strength and courage in faith. You can not find that when rushing.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

We must learn to develop the patient endurance of Christ in the wait. The world will rush on all around you. But you will find your strength,  healing, and grace in the quiet, calm. It is then that you realize that you are totally fulfilled while in the presence of Holy even as you wait for answers.

What in your life has got you in a rush? Seek how you can step away from the frenzied crowd and be fulfilled in the presence of God, especially in the waiting.

Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act… Psalm 37:7
