There are many things we say and do each day that cause us to stand up for ourselves, someone else, or a cause. Where we fall short is saying, doing, and standing for the one who gave us life, who stands up for us in the courts of heaven, and who sends angels, people, and animals into our lives when we need help. The Divine Creator changes our hearts toward good and right when we truly want to listen, and our purpose is to share those stories so others see Holy Hope lived out in a dark driven world. Blending in, turning a blind eye, saying nothing, and/or hiding in the background of a church building has not helped light up the world with Holy.
It is easy to stand up to bullies of animals and children, stand up for injustice with protests and social media rants, and stand up to unfair criticism because the world sees these as an admirable traits of doing good, which they are! What is not easy is to throw your life stories, dirt and all, of how Holy helped save you out to the world. It opens each of us up to critique, slander, social media rants of discredit, and even a discounting of what is truth. However, we are called to do it for the sake of the survival of someone else needing help.
It’s not really about religion in a building or groups of believers gathering together. These gatherings are very important to sustain us in our faith, but it’s not the end. It’s the beginning of new life in Divine each week, each day, each year so we can go out into the world and stand up for Holy. It is about going about the Father’s business day after day, week after week, year after year in an effort to shed Divine light into the world for all humankind, standing firm in our faith, not hiding it when the going gets rough, and not compromising our personal call in order to accommodate worldly views.
Your life stories, positive encouragement, phone call of compassion, or song of mercy in Jesus name might just be someone else’s life line today. Stop blending in and hiding your faith. Stand Up, Stand Out, and Stand Tall. You were made for this day. Seize whatever opportunity comes your way today to be someone’s light in this world, and do it in the name of Holy not self.
“Be alert! Be firm in the Christian faith. Be courageous and strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13
