In less than a week, Jesus was betrayed, prayed for a way out, deserted by friends, arrested, sentenced to die, tortured, whipped, clothes torn off, spit on, and nailed to a cross He himself had to carry uphill. He endured it all to save us to God in heaven for a life eternal.
Death is stark. It is a struggle, more for some than others. Jesus knows. He knows our pain and suffering. He knows our overwhelming anguish. He knows our struggles.
When He uttered the Words, “It is finished” and yielded His spirit to the Father in Heaven, the barrier between humanity and God was torn. A significant event occurred. The people felt it. The Pharisees were afraid, wondering if everything Jesus said was true.
Jesus’ life paid for every sin imaginable; mine and yours. We are free.
