Serving and Resting

The people, even the 12, wanted every ounce of knowledge from Jesus. It was His mission. He knew it and every ounce of His being was to save people to God. Yet, one of the biggest lessons we are to learn for today is that Jesus did not give in to burn out.

While the disciples were fearfully in panic within the storm, Jesus slept. In His weary state, Jesus sat down by a well. He was thirsty, parched, and tired to the bone, but He did not miss the opportunity to minister to the woman thereby saving others through her testimony. Everywhere Jesus went He found time to seek quiet, alone time with God to pray, have conversation with, and nourish His Spirit.

He gave all of it over to God and rested while He could wherever He went, yet did not miss opportunities to teach, minister, and pray.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:2-4

This world has the ability to suck the life right out of us. But only if we let it. Rest is not failure. It is life giving. Follow the Jesus Way.
