Oil in My Lamp

The bridge between heaven and earth was through the prophets of ancient days. Then God came to earth through Jesus, born a human baby among the humblest of conditions. Jesus fulfilled His mission leaving the oil for all who believe.

Oil is a metaphor for Holy Spirit. This timeless orchestration still resonates within us today. As believers we are God’s light bearers in faith and trust . Our oil must be nurtured for our light to shine throughout the world.

Without replenishing our lamps the light dims making us susceptible to temptations and allow feelings to lead the day instead of God. We then risk succumbing to actions of superiority, prideful words, and unjust treatment of others. If our light goes out, darkness wins.

We must guard against that by replenishing our oil through God’s Word, prayer, songs of praise, conversations with Jesus, and striving to give our blessings to others.

The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts. Proverbs 20:27

Add oil to your lamp, today, and go light up your world so you carry forward the light of Jesus’ Kindness, Love, Justice, and Thanksgiving.
