Life is a conglomerate of labor. From birth through death, there is a struggle. Jesus’ life and torturous death were a labor of love for the sole purpose of saving you and I to the masterpiece of heaven.
Ask any woman who has given birth about the struggles of pregnancy and labor. She will tell uplifting stories. She will tell of her feelings of weary defeat, carrying a burdensome load, and the joy that arises on the day of delivery. Yet, the blood, sweat, tears, and, many times, a long, hard labor are a distant story as she meets her newborn face to face. The masterpiece of the child claims her very heart and soul.
A beautiful monarch butterfly doesn’t just magically appear every summer. The arduous transformation within the cocoon is a labor all its own. In the lonely darkness, the struggling caterpillar morphs into a whole other creature. Then, the masterpiece of the butterfly emerges into this cold world, spreading beauty across the land.
God, the Creator, intricately created the universe with you and I included within it. It took days of molding and moving and spinning and laboring to finish the masterpiece of God.
You are God’s masterpiece. A labor of Holy love. Life is a struggle sometimes, but God is good, and if you stick with His way, your labors on earth will enrich others and bring good into a world bent on destruction. Your good labor may not be easy, but it will not be in vain.
Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
