As we focus on the coming Christ child to celebrate Christ-mas, let’s not forget that Mary was not the only one chosen to carry out the divine plan.
“As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:20
JOSEPH represents dads, step-dads, foster dads, adopting dads, dad figures in someone’s life…. He didn’t have all the answers nor could he have imagined the impact on the world. Yet,without knowing the details, he was willing to accept this divine purpose, to step up and do the right and honorable thing, to ignore the cultural pressures for the sake of the good of Mary and the child, and ultimately as a lesson for all dads everywhere.
What could have been viewed as an unexpected burden actually became a shared miracle of the Holy Spirit. Don’t miss your opportunity this Christ-mas to do the right thing, share the responsibilities, to love unconditionally, and to repair relationships in Jesus name.
Above all accept the calling of Jesus, whatever that means in your life today at this moment in time.
