Influencers

Social media is saturated with people vying for the title of influencer. The more outrageous, the better, but it is really an empty and vain aspiration. It feeds that innate desire to feel important, even superior for having created fame for no real purpose. It seems to perpetuate the kind of agrandizing self worship that takes away from Holy worship and leads to behaviors that are not fruitful. Selfishness and entitlement take over. Reality becomes superficial and fake.

It is past time for the faithful to step up and change the influencer narrative. We are called to be like Jesus to the world, which also means we can not keep hiding behind the church walls a couple of days a week, then live totally different lives the rest of the week. That, too, is superficial and fake. The world should see our faith at work, day after day. How we behave does matter. How we treat others, use our words, reach out to help, or check on those in need matters. Our faith can be contagious if we allow it. Are you willing to be a Holy influencer?

Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. Titus 2:7-8
