Tis the season for gift giving and sharing. How do you plan to do that? Have you ever really spent time thinking about your best attributes, your excelling talents, and your God given skills? Are you using them for the good of humankind and greater good of the kingdom? In an economic time of lost jobs, barely surviving businesses, stay at home mandates in fear of a health crisis, maybe it’s time to reset Christmas, too. How can you use your talents as a gift to uplift humanity? When we do that we essentially give back to our Divine Creator at the same time?
Humanity was given the greatest gift of all in the form of a babe to show us how to live and save us to the Divine creator. Instead of perpetuating that scenario in remembrance of this great gift, humanity seems to get caught up in Christmas parties, family gatherings, over extended debt from buying “things” few can afford, church dramas and cantatas, and everything but the reason for the season. It is even one of the saddest times of year for the lonely. Who can you reach out to this Christmas with a smile, a card, a meal, a song, write a poem, knit a warm hat, paint a picture, lend a helping/fixing hand, or use whatever the talents/skills you have been graced with to help others?
This year has been full of surprises, chaos, uncertainties, and fear, but instead of grasping at all of that with a last gasping last breath, why not grasp your inner gifts and give life back to yourself, others, and as a thank you back to God for Jesus, the babe, the person, the teacher, the mentor, the sacrifice. Ditch the over spending, exhausting activities, and over stimulation that keeps you from celebrating the greatest gift of all. It’s time to Start Over.
