She is clearly not a bird, but comes most days to eat the seeds, vegetables, and fruits. Sometimes she looks at me through the window as if she wants to converse. She even comes to the door from time to time, to talk to my cats, who are mesmerized by her sounds. Batman, my dog, does not approve. He barks frantically each day she visits. I marvel at how she’s not bothered by him. On those days she doesn’t visit, he will sit and watch for her for hours before disappointedly going to bed. It has become a game.
She knows I know she’s not a bird. Batman frantically announces she’s not a bird for all the world to hear. Lyra and Smokey could care less that she’s not a bird and are just curious. She is cute, sweet, brave, friendly, and seeks the birds food, but she is still not a bird.
This beautiful imposter is a reminder to always pay attention to the details of life, so that you see the truth without a shadow of a doubt.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
