“Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, that spreads his/her wings and caught them. They carried them on their pinions.” Deuteronomy 32:11
Eagles will fly fearlessly into the strong winds of a storm in order to be aerodynamically thrust higher by the current to escape harms way and soar above the dark storm clouds and heavy winds. It is here they can lock their wings and glide above all the turmoil. As well, they build their nests high above the earth. They use the updrafts coming off of hills and mountains to help them gain altitude which allows them to soar in flight rather pump their wings, especially when they first take their young out from the nest. Rather than risk injury to their little ones by allowing them to “jump” out they fluff their nest, jostling their tiny babies and catching them upon the tops of their wings. They carry them High Above The Earth as they soar amid the mountain tops. They will glide down, catch another updraft, and soar to new heights over and over and then return to the nest. Wow! what a ride that would be. Scary and exhilarating all at the same time. How rejuvenating it must be to just soar and not become crazy tired from expending the energy it would take to flap those big wings. What magnificent strength.
So many times when we are in the storms of life the winds become too dangerous and we become caught in the swirl of pending disaster with no seemingly way out. Then Jesus sends the angel armies and we’re carried up and out of the storm rising. The eagle reminds us that sometimes we need to be swept up and away from danger by the power of God’s Word, Prayers, and Angels so we can calmly soar above the darkness with Him gaining a renewed courage, wisdom, bravery, and sense of right and wrong, so that when it’s time to glide back down into the midst of the storm we are revitalized and ready to find the updraft.
Jesus is the only one who can guide us through the winds and above the storms in our life to reach new heights of faith. What are you waiting for? It’s time to Soar above the darkness with wings of an eagle.
