Doing the Right Thing

Doing what is right is hard for humans sometimes. Life can get overwhelming and hurried. We get weary from the hustle and bustle. It becomes so tiresome that we just want to take the easy way to feel less stressed. It never works. Our Jesus conscious won’t let it settle.

Humanly, it is impossible to do the right thing, say what needs to be said, and stay silent when we feel the need to defend, but with the mindset of Jesus, it is possible. We must stay in conversation with God and listen to the Holy Spirit.

Obedience in silence in the face of cruel accusations is excruciatingly hard, even pain filled and conflicted. However, God sees the bigger picture. When we do not engage, we hear in our spirit “remain silent,” and when we can rein in our indignent emotions to do it, Jesus has an opportunity to work on both hearts.

Our defensiveness may be what we want to hear from God every time. But, sometimes, it is not about us, and we must get out of God’s way in order for holiness to make the situation right in His Timing.

Yes, it’s complicated. Have faith. Do what is right in God’s eyes, not your own. Pray for understanding.

God can not engage in our conflicts and help us to see how to do what is right in the moment if we aren’t listening for guidance. If we do not have a personal daily relationship with Jesus, we certainly will not hear those whispers of wait, silent, or even just speak a kind word and diffuse it while caught up in our own anger.

It takes work. Peace is found, though. It is worth it to strive to do what is right in every situation. God deepens our understanding of the bigger picture of the moment when we do.

Develop that daily relationship today. God is waiting on you.

The LORD is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices. Proverbs 21:3 NLT

Clean living before God and justice with our neighbors mean far more to God than religious performance. Proverbs 21:3 MSG
