Confidence of Jesus

Without the confidence in the words His Father spoke to Him, Jesus would have caved at the first sign of unbelief in followers and simply blended into the crowds for safety. Without the confidence of His prayers reaching the courts of heaven, Jesus would have given up his time spent in daily solitude and prayer before the break of dawn. Jesus was so confident in His mission for God and humanity that He did not need the concurrence nor praise from anyone.

If Jesus had placed all of His confidence in His best friends, the disciples, He would have given in to the emotions of abandonment at His darkest hour in Gethsemane when they all fell asleep. He was afraid. He was disappointed. He really needed His friends to be there for Him, and they let Him down. Such is the way of humanity. Yet, His confidence in God never waivered. While He needed His friends, He was fine without them because His confidence was not in them sustaining Him. His confidence was in God’s Word, Plan, and Sustaining Way.

How is your confidence today? Are you blending in or boldly going? Are you fine without them?

For the Lord will be your confidence… Proverbs 3:26
