Let’s assume Jesus walked the earth today, passed by your home, and said, “Come, follow me.” Would you do it? No preparation. No getting affairs in order. No letting loved ones know where you’re going. It sounds slightly crazy.
Now, as Jesus walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishermen. And Jesus said unto them, Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. Mark 1:16-18
They dropped everything to go and follow Jesus.
While Jesus doesn’t physically walk the earth today, He does walk it with us by way of the Holy Spirit. So, when He nudges your thoughts, grips your heart, or speaks a calling into your soul to be worn as a mantle, do you hear and do you listen? Do you choose to follow through? Immediately?
Would you choose to follow Jesus’ lead even if it disrupted your entire life?
We are creatures of comfort, and when circumstances mess with that, we tend to balk at the prospect of inconveniences. Yet, if we are true believers of Jesus saving grace, we should be willing to drop everything to follow whatever way, will, or plan He is leading. To follow may require a huge leap of faith. It probably won’t be in the budget and is guaranteed to take you out of your comfort zone. Choose to Follow.
Jesus paid the price with His life.
Choose to Follow. No matter the cost.
