Poetry beautifully describes the emotions rising up within us surrounding events, changes, people, fears, joys. They are deeply felt and exude powerful words worth pondering.
As the leaves begin to change and ultimately blow in the wind, examine how you are feeling about the changes taking place in your life. My horse thinks the whirling leaves are gigantic tornados with the ability to gobble her up, so she wants to run away in fear. My heart pounds as I turn her to face her fears, calm her with my voice, and lay my hand gently on her neck. She trusts that I know best. I trust that she will listen to the voice of calm and let me live.
It is the same when we choose to experience life’s fears along with the joys while trusting God. It is not easy to turn and face our fears. There are all kinds of emotions flowing as change blows by. It helps to write about it like David did with the Psalms. Try it!
