To be humble is not to cower in weakness, display arrogance, or selfishly portray attitudes of disdain. Jesus was not weak, meek, or arrogant. He spoke truth, assessed situations before speaking, and always put the Heavenly Father’s wishes first. He placed himself in empathy among the sinners, homeless, lepers, and forgotten women and children, not the important leaders, priests, or kings. Jesus was totally confident in the Word He received from God about everything on earth, His mission, and fulfilling obedience to God.
Kindness is more than being gentle, helpful, or actively showing care. It is putting yourself in other’s shoes to be understanding, but not be taken advantage of in various situations. Take moments of pause to ask Jesus how to proceed. It could be the difference between escalating chaos or calming the storm.
While loving is easy in many situations, there are also times in life that love is hard. Addiction, arrogance, being thrown under the bus by family or friends, and the cruelty of lies with deception enter into our lives and love wanes. It is difficult to be patient in love when the flaws of others aren’t healthy. We have flaws, too. Jesus was able to put Himself in places of patience in His mind and demeanor in order to still show love in difficult situations. Even on the cross, Jesus asked His Heavenly Father to forgive those who were killing Him. This shows a great amount of love He had for God.
It is up to each of us to be kind in the face of rudeness, humble in the midst of rage, and love patiently amid chaos. These are no easy feats to accomplish. However, with the help of Jesus, we can live that way. Each time you are faced with these adversities, ask Jesus to help.
Bee Reminded, today, that you are loved by God in spite of your flaws. Therefore, you are called to be like Jesus towards others, in truth, facts, and patient endurance. Trust God to help you know how to handle the flaws of others in His way, not yours.
Hot tempers cause arguments, but patience brings peace. Proverbs 15:18
