Bait and Hook

If it feels wrong, it probably is wrong. Do you walk away? Or do you stick around to see what happens?

Discernment of God’s way is highly important at this point of decision. He sees the bigger picture. Addicts will tell you if they had known how the drug, the alcohol, the pornography, and the lies would destroy their lives and their family, they would have walked away at the first temptation.

This is how satan works in our lives. The bait is the greener pastures, the feelings of euphoria, the wanting of more but needing less, the mindset of making money is more important than hands on engagement with your family, and that self is above all else. The enemy is not straightforward and truthful. Once the bait hooks you, it’s a spiral into the dark side without warning.

Don’t be caught unawares. To gain discernment in order to make Godly decisions, there must be effort made to engage in a personal relationship with Jesus, reading God’s Word and asking for deeper understanding, then praying your way through each day is imperative.

If you fall for the bait and hook of Satan, just know Jesus is waiting to return you to the fold. When you reach for Holy, Holy is already waiting to grasp your hand and pull you into the light of the Heavenly Father. Truth will become apparent. You will be changed in all ways. Do it today.

Pay attention, stay aware of everything, and everyone as you go about your day. The enemy is always lurking around the next corner to bait you with brilliance, then hook you into darkness. God can break the chains that hook you. Have faith in that.

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man. Ephesians 16:21-23

Even Jesus was baited by satan through Peter. Be watchful for the traps that lead you wrong. The hook is waiting to chain you to a lifetime of sorrow.

Follow the truth of God, always. To do that, you must actually know Him deeply and not superficially.  Today is your day to start getting to know the Holy Spirit within deeply. Nothing else matters.
